Overview

'VorpalPanel', or just 'Vorpal' is a server administration web frontend designed around django's app support, and the concept of plugable modules. It's designed to be similar in concept to cPanel, or webmin, but not a workalike for either.

Goals

Vorpal aims to make common server tasks (adding a user, monitoring processes, deploying a website, slaying the Jabberwock, etc) simple and straight forward. That isn't to say it's designed to 'dumb down' server administration; instead it provides your consistent, easy to work with tools to wield. To the degree that this makes server administration more accessible for the layman, we apologize. (We do understand that servers should be large warehouse sized machines, administered by men with mystical Merlin-like powers, their ways impossible to understand by the common man... we really do. As soon as we hit a release quality product, we promise to wrap this entire thing in an emacs macro. That'll show those pesky IT-wannabes.)

Design

Keeping in mind our imminent EMACS macro integration, we have designed Vorpal from both the top down, and the bottom up. Django provides a basic structure for the project already; we designed our pluggable module support around django's already quite sane design. We then designed the user interface as a modern jQuery, HTML5, Web 2.0, XHTML, CSS 3, 3D, HTML5, High Definition, Technicolor, Stereo, HTML5 interface. Below you will find the design documents we forced our migrant workers to memorize and recite on command for our crack team of programmers.
